A new study shows this not only gives you a slimmer body you can sleep like a caveman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s the finding of two new Purdue University studies that show going on a high-protein weight loss plan improves sleep.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the first study, 14 overweight men and women increased their protein intake while reducing overall calories. This had the effect of lowering carbohydrates. At the end of a month, the participants sleep improved by 8% based on a sleep questionnaire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The second study followed dieters for four months. Researchers divided 44 obese or overweight people into two groups.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One group ate their usual amount of protein while reducing calories. The other subjects doubled their protein intake while also reducing overall calories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While both groups lost weight there were even greater results.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the beginning of the study, both groups\u2019 sleep quality was the same. But by the fourth month, the high-protein group was sleeping longer and more soundly. Their sleep improved by 35%. In addition to better sleep they also found there their daytime alertness and performance was greatly improved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The regular protein group did not show similar results. The study was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The U.S. Centers for Disease Control has declared lack of sleep a huge public health problem. It estimates up to 70 million Americans suffer from some form of sleep disorder.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Sleep like a caveman\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">High-protein, low-carb Paleo-style diet has long been recommended for weight loss and overall improved health.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here is a Paleo diet summary:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eat protein at every meal. The best sources are organic eggs, wild-caught salmon, and organic, grass-fed beef, pork, lamb, and chicken.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lower carbs by swapping out grains for leafy green vegetables.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add healthy fats including avocado, olive, and coconut oils.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eliminate added sugars and dairy other than grass-fed butter.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eat plenty of nuts, seeds, fruits, and non-starchy vegetables.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eating more protein\u2014and cutting back on carbs\u2014may be a great long-term solution for better sleep.
